I want to congratulate each of you for taking and passing the NRA Range Safety Officer course taught by Walt and Heather this past Saturday. I also want to thank you for volunteering to help GTGC achieve its goal of providing a safe range and environment for all members and their guests. So, what's next?
First, you will now need to go online and register/login at nrainstructors.org to activate and complete your credentials processing. As a Match Director, Assistant Match Director, or volunteer RSO, the Club will reimburse you for the $35 fee required to be fully certified and print out your RSO certificate and ID card. Simply print out and send Heather a receipt, and she will forward the reimbursement.
Attached are the instructions for login or registering at the NRA Instructor Online Portal. You will have the opportunity to create a new login ID and set a personal password for you. You have 30 days to complete this process. Be aware that there have been issues related to incorrect or invalid NRA membership numbers in a few cases. That typically takes a phone call to the NRA to correct. If so, let me know, and I will help you navigate the system.
Second, be on the lookout for more information on the RSO program's re-launch program that includes regular updates on changes to the SOP, specific events that RSO's are needed. And, of course, database access to validate or confirm membership status. However, you do not need to wait to volunteer. I urge you to get started with the class material that is still relevant. You can log in to https://goldentrianglegunclub.com/RSO-Log-In at any time to schedule volunteer time and dates. By clicking the ‘Book Appointment’ icon, you can designate the dates and times where you will be the RSO on duty at the range. Using this system will enable us to have a record of your service and allow us to validate meeting the threshold for free membership in 2021.
Feel free to call me if you have any questions. I am also available to spend time with you on the range of your first time out to help you get better acquainted with RSO's role.
Best Regards,
Richard L. Worthey, CRSO
