     The power is currently out at the gun club, as it is in many parts of Jefferson County.  There is no discernable damage at the club other than a few broken tree limbs, and plastic barrels found scattered across the range.  However, there is a power pole hanging across Erie Street between Chambliss Drive and the LNVA canal with utility lines lying in the roadway.  This has been reported to Entergy with no estimated time for repairs.  So, along with the many residents and gun club members having evacuated due to Hurricane Laura, the member orientation classes scheduled for this weekend are cancelled.  We hope to have power back by early next week, at which time we will reschedule these classes.

    We always say safety first, last and always. That also applies during this uncertain time.Safety is our upmost priority and out of caution and preparation for the upcoming weather event, classes, lessons, etc. have been canceled and the range will be closed if we have a direct impact until it can be inspected. We will keep you updated as we know things.

    We have several Orientation classes with openings this month so you can get your renewal take care of. 

    Members who have taken the class have loved it as they have learned a lot about updates, our vision of where we are headed, safety and changes. A lot is going on so come find out. 

    Check out the schedule online and sign up. Walk-ins are only allowed if the registered student is a no-show as we can only hold 30 students with the social distance guidelines.

    All renewals are being sent through email this year. If you didn’t receive your renewal or unable to log in to the website, where your profile and gate card are located, it is because the email you provided the Club is the one we are using to email the renewal and is also your username. If you need to update your email with the Club please email it to or text it to 409-210-1867

    Range Orientation Class Policy Update-

    This is a one hour, one time class required for renewal of your membership. We need you to register for class so we can link it to your membership and give you proof of attendance. We also MUST ask you to register, as we have to limit the attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions. If we have people show at the door, we will now ask you to wait outside until all registrants have showed and only then, if there is an empty seat, will you be allowed in the building.

    Range App-

    Download Wild Apricot for Members then after you have set up your profile on the website you use your email and password to login to the App. This app allows you to show your gate card, update your profile, see Events where we post classes, matches and range closures.

    Good Afternoon GTGC Members,

    All membership renewal emails have gone out.  If you have not received yours, you have two options.  Option one is to log into your account and you can pay it online or option two is to email your correct email and I will verify that it is correct in your file. After I verify it, I will email you an invoice.

    We have several Membership Orientations scheduled this month to accommodate the renewal requirement that all members will have to take Orientation to renew.  Please schedule your class here.  

    The gate code will change, as usual, in early September after renewals have processed.

You can text me at (409) 210-1867.  I ask that you text as I am trying to help hundreds of members and I can send your screen shots and quick replies rather than getting on several calls. It is my hope to create a simple orientation to the system soon, our renewal launch has been the priority.     Membership renewals were emailed on August 1st. Please check your spam if you didn’t receive yours. If you haven't received an email by August 10th, please let us know as the emails are sent in daily batches.
    You can process yours online (there is even an option for auto renew) or you can pay by check by bringing it to orientation or by mail.

    We have several Member Range Orientation classes in August so please register at

    If we see they are filling up, under limited occupancy per COVID, we will add classes.

    We have made the classroom COVID compliant per the CDC guidelines. Those guidelines have been posted under each class, on Facebook and under news on our website.


    1. Is there an online orientation?

    No, we do not have an online Orientation option.

    2. Why do existing members have to attend? We have made many improvements and want to go over the highlights, teach you about some of our new safety requirements and range limitations, as well as share with you what is to come.

    3. Has the annual meeting been canceled?

    No, we are looking at streaming a small in person meeting and sending out the votes by email.

    4. Will I get lots of emails if I create an online account? No, we plan on a monthly newsletter and if you elect groups to participate with they may send you specific announcements.

    5. Where can I find out about range closures? Facebook, the home page and coming soon, a specific calendar online.

    COVID19:  Due to the current situation and the orders by both the Governor and County Judge, we will follow the recommended CDC guidelines for social distancing.  Everyone in the classroom will be spaced 6 feet apart, except for household or family members.  Everyone MUST wear a mask in the classroom.  We sanitize the chairs, tables and doors. We have limited all class sizes to accommodate social distancing. Membership Orientation classes are still being conducted. 

    The range is open-air, and masks are not required but recommended due to the distances and conditions that we will be operating under on the range.  Wash your hands regularly.  We have nice air-conditioned restrooms with soap and D-lead solutions.  We will have hand sanitizer available but suggest you bring some as well.  If you are sick, or a member of your household is ill, don’t come to class!
