The red range warning lights located on the 100-yd. rifle range are now operational after repair.  These lights are used to notify everyone that the range is cold and there may be people downrange.  ABSOLUTELY NO HANDLING OF FIREARMS ANYWHERE ON THE RANGE IS ALLOWED WHEN THE RED LIGHTS ARE FLASHING.

Recent rains dealt the final blow to a dead tree located near the entrance gate.  The small tree fell down across the keypad at the entrance gate causing damage.  The keypad is still working but it is bent over at an angle requiring members to get out of the vehicle to enter the access code.  It may take a while to repair the damage spending availability of repair personnel.

    ALERT!

Be careful at the Club during this week of heavy rains and flash flooding.  As of noon today (Monday, May 17th) the bridge crossing the drainage ditch to the rifle and shotgun ranges is impassable with water rushing at a higher than normal velocity approximately 6-10 inches deep.  Do not attempt to cross!  Come back another day to shoot.

    ENTRANCE ROAD REPAIRED!

The entrance road to the club was repaired late yesterday evening.  Work crews regraded the road and repaired the sub-base where the potholes were located by cutting them out and repacking with new material.  Then a layer of black tar was sprayed on the base and a new layer of light colored asphalt material was laid and rolled.

This was not a cheap repair and we ask all members to help preserve this new condition of the road by SLOWING DOWN!  Keep the speed 10 mph or less.  This will help eliminate the need for folks to slam on the brakes in order to stop at the gate and keypad and creating potholes.  The same is true when exiting the club.  Folks pick up speed when leaving and then make those same hard stops at the intersection of Erie Street creating potholes there as well.

    100/200-yd Rifle Range

The Club is scheduling workers to rebuild the cover on the 100/200 yd rifle range that was destroyed by the recent storms.   This also includes rebuilding the concrete shooting bench at lane 15.  Once these repairs are completed, we should have the Red Lights operational again.  We anticipate these repairs will be completed, weather permitting, over the next several weeks.

    600-yd Rifle Range

Currently bringing in dirt to fill in the low area retaining water near the protection berm and target pits.  There are also plans to move the tan target house behind the protection berm.

    Silhouette Range

This range is currently closed while worker are hauling in dirt and rebuilding the berms.  They are also filling in low spots.  This project is scheduled to be completed by end of December.

    New Training Bays

Dirt is being brought in and placed for a new 14-ft tall impact berm in across the road from the existing 25/50-yd.  handgun range.  Plans include the construction of concrete filled block safety walls for two 30-yd. bays.  These bays will be similar to the Action Range allowing for transitional work typical of current training environment and practical shooting competitions.  We hope to have this completed by end of 1 Qtr. 2021.

    Roadway Repairs

A shortage of contractor availability due to COVID and storm damage restoration has delayed the repair and regrading of the roadways.  We are working to get this done as soon as possible.

    Berm Maintenance

We will begin mowing and spraying of the impact and protection berms across the range soon.  The Club has and is spending significant amount of money to bring these berms back up to proper heights for safety.  It is important that we maintain these berms keep vegetative growth properly contained to prevent erosion, settlement or breaches.

We ask for everyone's patience and understanding during range closures as this work continues.  We try to minimize the impact to our member's use of the range.  Remember that mowers and workers have the right-of-way!  Keep checking the Events calendar for notice of these closures.
