Annual Meeting Delayed

The Board of Directors has elected to delay holding the Annual Meeting until sometime in November due to the current unprecedented COVID19 emergency.  We are working on contingency plans such as conducting the meeting online, as well as electronic voting of officers and directors.  Watch your email for further updates soon.

Special Board Meeting Announcement

Ron Page, President of GTGC, is calling for a special board meeting on August 15th, 2020 to consider a few changes to the Club’s bylaws to reflect changes in membership categories.  Right now, all active duty USCG personnel have a free membership in the Club.  The Club does not know who or how many are using the range due to the USCG security policy on the release of personal information for active-duty personnel.  To correct this, eliminating Article III, Section E in its entirety and including the USCG, as well as all Military (active, retired, and disabled along with LEO (active and retired) in a new membership category under Article IV – Dues, dramatically simplifies the process while giving our veterans and law enforcement a small break on their annual dues.  The only other change is grammatic wording in Art. III, Section C, and Article IV, Section B.  The specific text of these changes is shown below in RED:

ARTICLE III --- MEMBERSHIP

Section C:

All applicants for membership must fill out an application and submit this application to the Club Secretary-Treasurer. The Club Secretary-Treasurer and the Club President will comprise the Membership Committee.  The Membership Committee will make a thorough investigation of the applicant, and approve or reject the application within 30 days.  If the Membership Committee rejects a prospective member, the Committee will notify the Board of Directors of the reason why at the next BOD meeting.

Section E:

Personnel from our local U.S. Coast Guard MSU, located in Port Arthur, Texas, are given the use of the Club facilities for GTGC-approved training under the guidance of a USCG safety officer, and for personal use.  They are members of the Golden Triangle Gun Club, Inc., and are expected to follow all Club rules and regulations.  Sometimes, for a particular type of training, specific rules may be suspended temporarily, as described in the GTGC Operating Procedures, under the supervision of a GTGC Chief Range Safety Officer.  During this type of training, the particular range they are using will be temporarily closed to the membership.

ARTICLE IV --- DUES

Section B:

The annual dues, payable in advance, on or before September 1st of each year, shall be:

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP: Initiation Fee = $100.00, Annual Dues = $100.00

SENIOR MEMBERSHIP: (65 and older): Initiation Fee = $75.00, Annual Dues = $75.00

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP: (18 – 25): No Initiation Fee, Annual Dues = $75.00

SPOUSE MEMBERSHIP: No Initiation Fee, Annual Dues = $50.00

DISABLED VETERAN – SERVICE CONNECTED: $75.00 Annually (Initiation Fee for New Disabled Veteran Membership $75.00)

MILITARY/LEO: Initiation Fee = $75.00, Annual Dues = $75.00

A member, being in arrears on November 1st, shall be denied the use of the Club facilities, and having been duly notified by the Dues Invoice, shall be delinquent and not in good standing and shall be dropped from the roster. To come back into the Club, said member must apply as a new member, paying the initiation fee (if required). The Membership Committee may approve the reinstatement of a delinquent member without the required initiation fee.

Membership Safety Orientation is Required

This past year, the Board decided to require all new and existing members to attend a Member Safety Orientation in person covering range safety following the Standard Operating Procedures, at least once.  The first of this 50-minute class started in January.  Classes are held at least twice a month in the Activity Center.

For new members, they receive their cards at the end of the class.  For existing members, they will not be able to renew or use the Club until they attend the class. Due to COVID 19, the deadline for existing members to complete the class has been extended until March 31st, 2021.  Check the Club’s website for dates and times: https://goldentrianglegunclub.com/Events/
