EMERGENCY SAFETY PLAN
YOUTH SHOOTING OPPORTUNITIES
Golden Triangle Gun Club is proud to sponsor Youth Safety Education and Shooting. In cooperation with organizations such as 4-H, the GTGC provides range facilities and equipment to promote safe gun handling skills, safe target shooting opportunities and competitive shooting for a life long enjoyment of the shooting sports.
You can look for the youth shooters at the Golden Triangle Gun Club almost every Saturday in the spring on the Rifle Range where, in cooperation with other youth development programs, we have a great time sharing our love of shooting sports. Please check goldentriangleguncom.com/events for scheduled activities.
4-H Shooting Sports
Small Bore (.22 Rifle): The Jefferson County 4-H shoots small bore rifles at the Rifle Range Saturday Mornings in the spring starting in January and continuing through April. The project ends with competitive events at the County Level and at the District Level where local teams compete against other County teams from across Southeast Texas. In addition, numerous events are available on the State Level for Youth Shooters.
BB Guns and Sporter Air Rifle: The precision BB Guns and Sporter Air Rifle are offered at various times through out the year depending on the availability of indoor facilities and coaching staff. This is a great way to involve young shooters in shooting sports while teaching the basics of safety and target competitions.

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.
We start in the classroom with SIRT laser trainer non-firing pistols to get the student comfortable with handling pistols and learning the essential skills before going to the range to fire their first live shots.
We furnish the student with loaner SIRT laser training pistols for use in the classroom, as well as loaner .22 caliber semi-auto pistols with ammo for the live fire portion on the range. We also furnish electronic hearing protection for use on the range.
We highly recommend that everyone take this course before attending any other pistol course, including the Texas LTC course. It is suitable for first time novices, as well as intermediate pistol shooters.

This is the Military Rifle Fifth Saturday Wildcard Match. The match is held on the fifth Saturday of every month that has a fifth Saturday. Match registration is at 7:30am. The match starts at 8:00am.
This 2-day class focuses on the practical shooting skills of USPSA and IDPA competitors that will help you more confidently plan, tackle, and shave time from your stages. While this class does contain some advanced fundamentals, the class is mostly dynamic and stage oriented. Because this class doesn’t include a great deal of “firing line” type fundamentals training, we wont burn through ammo like a regular class. Therefore, the round counts are bit lower than what you might have seen at traditional 2-day classes in the past – we will make them count. I am a firm believer that when it comes to proper practice, quality is much more important than quantity, so this class will also cover principles of efficient practice, and how to structure your practices to identify and address your weaknesses.
2-Day Practical Performance Class (600 rounds) - $525 *
* A range fee of $20 will be collected at the beginning of the first day class from all non-members of the Club.
Space allowing, we will set up a full stage, for students to run through at the beginning of class. The stage will include a number of elements such as entries and exits, opportunities to shoot on the move, awkward positions, close and far targets, and high risk arrays. This first run through will be an assessment tool, helping the instructor to figure out your shooting style and where improvements can be made. Throughout the class we will occasionally revisit this stage, and use parts of it to isolate and develop skills, and set up drills.
In addition, we'll be covering the following topics:
1. Overview of gear setup/optimization
2. Small discussion on grip/stance/draws
3. Group shooting
4. Dot drills w/o timer and w/ timer
5. Discussion/demo on importance of trigger control and sight management
7. Sight deviation and acceptable risk
8. Reloads/Unloaded starts/Table starts
9. Putting it all together (4 aces, El Prez, Accelerator)
1. Movement (side to side, downrange/uprange)
2. Positioning and how to set up properly (barricades, ports, leans)
4. Importance of having gun up ready to shoot ALWAYS
5. Stage planning (visualization, self talk)
6. Stage shooting and performance improvement and evaluation
