GTGC "Fourth Saturday" Steel Match (Saturday, June 27, 2026)

The GTGC Action Shooting Sports will host Steel matches on the “Fourth Saturday” of each month.

The match format is similar to Rimfire Challenge and/or Steel Challenge but we use static and reactive steel targets. We also allow both rimfire and centerfire firearms. We run a cold range. Your firearms must be unloaded and holstered, bagged, and/or flagged until under direction of the Safety Officer. The matches are for rimfire rifles, rimfire pistols, centerfire pistols, and Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCCs). We also welcome Large Format Pistols in pistol calibers. You can shoot one or multiple firearms. Magnum calibers are NOT allowed.

The stages are composed of five to seven static and/or reactive steel targets. The stages do not require movement. The matches will have four to five stages. Each stage will have three to five strings. A maximum of 11 shots per string can be fired, no matter the size of the magazine. Your worst string per stage will be discarded.

Mid-Range F-Class Match – 600 Yards | Golden Triangle Gun Club

Registration 7:00 - 7:30 am

Firing begins @ 8:00 am

Golden Triangle Gun Club’s NRA-sanctioned Mid-Range Match is a precision rifle competition fired entirely at 600 yards. Shooters compete from the prone position while aiming for the 3-inch X-ring.

Electronic targets provide rapid feedback, displaying both score and exact shot location within seconds after each shot. Each relay consists of 20 shots for record with a 22-minute time limit and unlimited sighters. Matches typically include 2 to 4 relays, totaling 60 shots for record, with competitors scoring for one another.

This match offers a structured, efficient, and competitive environment that is welcoming to both experienced F-Class shooters and those new to mid-range precision shooting.

The Texas Highpower Juniors will be holding a dedicated training weekend as they prepare to compete in the National Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio.

This intensive training will focus on refining fundamentals, improving consistency at long range, and preparing our top juniors for the high level of competition they will face on the national stage. These athletes have earned the opportunity to represent our club and Texas, and this weekend is a key step in that preparation.

We are proud of the hard work and dedication these juniors continue to show and appreciate the support of our members as they train for this prestigious event.

NRA Basic Pistol Class (Saturday, July 11, 2026)

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.

We start in the classroom with SIRT laser trainer non-firing pistols to get the student comfortable with handling pistols and learning the essential skills before going to the range to fire their first live shots.

We furnish the student with loaner SIRT laser training pistols for use in the classroom, as well as loaner .22 caliber semi-auto pistols with ammo for the live fire portion on the range. We also furnish electronic hearing protection for use on the range.

We highly recommend that everyone take this course before attending any other pistol course, including the Texas LTC course. It is suitable for first time novices, as well as intermediate pistol shooters.

Students will receive:

NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook
NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure
Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet
Take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination
Course completion certificate upon successful completion of the lessons and demonstration of firing a qualifying shot group.

Junior High Power Rifle Program

The Junior High Power Rifle Program is designed to introduce young shooters to the sport of Service Rifle competition while building discipline, responsibility, sportsmanship, and marksmanship skills. Our juniors practice weekly while under the instruction of Golden Triangle Highpower Coaches.

High Power Rifle is a classical position shooting sport that includes:

Offhand (Standing)
Sitting
Prone (Lying Down)

Competitors shoot what is commonly referred to as an “Across the Course” match at distances of:

200 yards
300 yards
600 yards

This program operates as a mentoring program integrated into regular High Power scheduled events. Junior shooters compete side-by-side with adult shooters and receive instruction and coaching from dedicated, trained adult coaches. The goal of the program is to help each junior develop safe firearm handling skills, confidence, and a lifelong interest in High Power Rifle competition.

Our team practices every week from September - June and welcomes juniors who are eager to learn, improve their marksmanship abilities, and compete in a positive team atmosphere.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the Junior High Power Rifle Program and participation is for youth ages 13 through 20 years old.

Youth must demonstrate the mental focus, emotional stability, and physical capability necessary to safely handle and operate firearms at all times. Safety is our highest priority, and all participants are expected to follow instructions, exercise good judgement, and conduct themselves in a manner that promotes a safe and positive training environment.

Rules: Current NRA silhouette rules will apply.

Entries:

$5.00 per match.

The standard rifle match will be shot first with the hunter rifle match to follow.

First time entry shoots free.

Entries will be accepted at the time of the match.

Entrants with current NRA Silhouette classification will be required to provide a classification card or classification book.

Time of Matches:

Practice begins at 8:00 AM.

The match begins at 9:00 AM.

Match Conditions:

10 rounds each at chickens (40 meters), pigs (60 meters), Turkeys (77 meters), and rams (100 meters).

Competitors will score and set targets.

Classification:

NRA silhouette classification will be used.

Unclassified shooters will compete in the highest class fired in the match.

Awards: Cash awards are given to first and second place in each class, depending on the number of entries.

The GTGC Action Shooting Sports will host Galactic Pistol Alliance "GPA" (Tier 1) matches on the “First Saturday” of alternating months and the on the "Third Saturday" of every month.

While you do not need to be a GPA member to shoot the match, to be classified in GPA, you will need a GPA member number.

Junior High Power Rifle Program

High Power Rifle is a classical position shooting sport that includes:

Offhand (Standing)
Sitting
Prone (Lying Down)

Competitors shoot what is commonly referred to as an “Across the Course” match at distances of:

200 yards
300 yards
600 yards

Our team practices every week from September - June and welcomes juniors who are eager to learn, improve their marksmanship abilities, and compete in a positive team atmosphere.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the Junior High Power Rifle Program and participation is for youth ages 13 through 20 years old.
