Wooden Uprights — 1×2 Furring Strips
Available at Lowe’s or Home Depot. We recommend buying 1×2×8' furring strips and cutting them down to a maximum of 5' in length.

This ensures:

✔ Targets remain below berm height
✔ All rounds impact the appropriate backstop
✔ Compliance with range safety requirements

Cutting them down also makes them easier to transport and more durable over time.

Competition-Style Cardboard Targets

You can also purchase cardboard targets used for IDPA and USPSA matches, which:

✔ Allow stapling/pasting of paper drills and scoring zones
✔ Are lightweight and highly portable
✔ Can be used at multiple distances for realistic drills
✔ Enhance structured training and self-assessment

You will also need your staple gun, large ACCO binder clips, or hardware clamps to attached the cardboard targets to the wooden upright strips.
  

Range Use & Safety Requirements

This target setup is approved for use on Action Ranges 1, 2, & 3 only.

Members are responsible for ensuring that:

• Targets are placed so all rounds come to rest in the impact berms
• Target height does not exceed berm height
• No rounds leave the range or clear the berm top
• Distances and angles safely direct fire into the backstop
